| MY APPROACH My painting had always been a private experience, until one fateful fall. Good Dog. Fine Art. was born when my very dear friend's dog passed away. I decided to paint her dog, Jack, to help ease her and her husband's sorrow, and to create a gift from the heart for them that holiday season. Somehow from Good Dog Jack, I was swept along a path of creating portrait after portrait of beautiful furry souls. A friend helped me name my new business: "Good Dog. Fine Art.". I ran an ad in "BARK" magazine. And now I am blessed to have this painting life fill my days. Each and every new face I get to paint is a thrill. As a painter, I am self-taught. My unique style has evolved over decades of experience in many visual arts. I feel that pet portraits are best when treated with a lighthearted approach, without being in the least bit cartoony. I like to paint with extremely accurate representation, but with a playful color palette. What tickles my creativity most is breathing life and color into a loved animal and capturing their true emotion and personality. FROM THERE TO HERE Having studied graphic design and photography, I began working in the advertising industry as a set designer, props and wardrobe stylist for both film directors and print photographer's projects. Currrently, I still work as an advertising photographer in the Atlanta area. Both on location and in the studio I shoot primarily food and table top products for various national, local and regional clientele. AT HOME My own menagerie includes two sweet elderly Golden Retrievers, a sweet, supportive husband, an aging momma and two young adult children who have both run off into their own creative lives. |
